The package includes 2 classes that are essential for becoming a Test and Repair Technician:

1. BAR Specified Diagnostic and Repair

2. Inspector Level 2

BAR Specified Diagnostic and Repair Training (A-6, A-8, L-1 Alternative): This training focuses on diagnosing and repairing Smog Check failures, particularly emphasizing electrical/electronic systems and engine and emission control performance. It can be used as a substitute for the ASE A6, A8, and L1 certifications for re-certification. Additionally, individuals with at least two years of engine performance repair experience who complete this training may qualify to take the state licensing examination for the Smog Check Repair Technician License.

Inspector Level 2 Training: This training prepares students for Smog Check inspections.

Completing bar-specified diagnostic and repair and inspector level, 2 training will fulfill the Bureau's training requirements for eligibility for the smog check inspector and smog check repair state licensing examination.
